From the kids point of view

I thought I would share Justin's email to his friends to get the kids perspective on the earthquake.

OK, this email is in response to the emails sent to me:
First, we were on a vacation in Lima, and our hotel room was on the sixth floor (of eight). We were watching sports when the bed started rumbling. Our dad thought we were wrestling, but then Kevin shouted, "It's an earthquake!" Then we felt the hotel start shaking (and we were on the sixth story!), and we were shaking back and forth. Colton wanted to stick his head out the window and see the buildings shake. (!!!)

When it was over, we left the hotel and took a taxi to a restaurant called Chili's. On the way we could see broken glass, broken water pipes, and plaster from buildings. Later we found out that it was rated a 8.0 - and farther south cities like Ica and a few others were hit really hard. An estimation of about 337 people died.

It was pretty scary - and at the same time cool. Colton didn't understand what was going on much (obviously) he (I just asked him) says it was: "Cool!". These are what my siblings think (and thought) about the earthquake:

Kevin says: "It was scary - and I kept telling my dad that we should leave the hotel room. But he kept insisting that with the buildings shaking, and with Mom sick (Oh yeah, I forgot to mention Mom was sick) that it was better not to try and go down six flights of stairs (since using the elevator would be suicide) and that we should try and wait it out."

Miranda says: "I think that it was freaky!!!"

Jason says: "It was freaky, scary, and terrifying!"

Colton says: "It's cool (although if any of you know Colton, then you could have guessed he'd say that without me telling you) - and - it's a weirdy." (!?!?)

Well, I think that responds to the emails sent to me. Is that satisfying? Well, at least we have an exciting story to tell people!

The kids were frightened, but obviously our experience was mild compared to that of those who suffered closer to the epicenter. Keep in prayer those most affected and that the Lord might use this to further his kingdom in Peru, giving hope to the hurting and hopeless.
