What cold looks like or when Frosty comes to town

As we are warming up (made it one degree above freezing today!) I thought I'd share what we are living in right now. My deck looks like the Sta-Puft Marshmallow Man came to visit and brought a couple of friends.

They talked all night long those two.

BIG Snow

For us Texans, we had what I like to call, BIG SNOW this week - probably around 4 inches - certainly enough to cover everything with a pristine whiteness and enough to where you couldn't tell where the driveway or yard ended and the street began. It's actually pretty early for this much snow, so I think it is safe to say that we were the only happy family in all of Calgary. The natives were just lamenting the fact that winter is in fact here. Here are more than few pics involving snowmen, sledding, and yes, the dog. She actually liked the snow. Surprising, seeing as she is a fellow southerner hailing from Arkansas.

Looking into our Cul-de-sac

Jason found the snow quite "comfy"

Say hello to Jason's snowmwmen, Frosty and Snowy in the front, and Kevin's snowguy in the back.

Colton's snow-bug. Cute, eh?

As promised...

Here are pictures from the first snowfall which occurred on Saturday....

As you can tell, it wasn't blasted cold outside since I have one child barefoot and two others in shorts.

...and the second which occurred today.

Check out the snow on the pup's nose.

And now the counting has officially stopped.
It's just a fact of life up here in the Great White North.
Snow falls from the sky.

First snowfall - it's official

For all you Southerners, who are still roasting in your toasty 70 and 80 degree temperatures - and by "southerners", I don't mean southern Alberta - we experienced the first snowfall of the season today. It wasn't cold enough to accumulate, but that may change in the next day or two. But even still, I have been assured that the "real cold" won't be visiting us until at least late November. That's reassuring.

I do have pictures, but I am having a minor disagreement with my camera that I hope to resolve by early in the week when I have time to devote to the issues it is not happy with.

When I post the "First Snow" pictures, I will also try and post our "Fall in Calgary" pictures which we just took on Monday. And most likely by then I will also have the "Second and Greater Snow" pictures as well, as we are expecting that over the next few days.

Fun times ahead!
