Feb. reads thus far

Since I figure my memory is not what it used to be and the upcoming work of packing will be taking many of my brain cells, I thought for the month of February, I would post my reads as I go.  So thus far we have two...
Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck - Many of my readers probably saw John's review on this gem.  I concur - it is short but so full of depth and feeling.  We follow two friends, George and the simple Lenny to a new job on a ranch in California during the "dust bowl" days.  Lenny is quite child-like even to the extent of not knowing his own strength and in his effort to give affection to small animals, he inevitably kills them.  poor guy.  he just wants a hug for crying out loud!  But poor Lenny, the death of animals is not the worst of his troubles. My heart broke for these men - which to me makes a great story.  8.5

Unpacking Forgiveness by Chris Brauns - This is the best book on forgiveness I have ever read.  This was recommended to me by husband, who said, "this is the best book on forgiveness I have read."  See a pattern?  Brauns deals with some difficult questions and deals with them with Biblical support communicating humbly and gently.  Highly recommended - it will be one I work through regularly.  9.5
