My friend Holly had a great post today. Check it out here.
It was a great encouragement to me as well as convicting as I just finished entering the last of the Christmas shopping receipts into our Quicken, and as I sigh, mentally re-adjusting what our bottom line is looking like these days, and as I remember that as much as I am feeling the tightness of the budget, 1.) I have not been feeling it as much as I should have been, and 2.)Regardless of how tight the budget is, we serve the Lord who provides. Maybe not in the way I want him too, maybe not all in my timing, but He does provide and He will provide and He does care for us. He knows our NEEDS. That I know.
So as we re-adjust our lifestyles and bottom-lines, let us rejoice in knowing that it is our Father in Heaven who will provide for all our needs, and not the government and not men, and not the credit companies and banks. They can't, as much as they think they can.
We are STILL the wealthiest nation in the world - don't let these days fool any of us into thinking that we aren't. Our level of poverty is pure wealth compared to that of Peru's, for example. So breathe in, breathe out, and go sell some stuff if you have to, or don't buy as much as you usually would this Christmas, or don't eat out as much. As we seek wisdom from the Lord, He will walk with us and be our provider. And as he does, He will show us more of himself, and He will show us more of ourselves, and how much we really do need Him.
Thanks Holly. I love you friend. I am going to go cut the top off the toothpaste now.
