For the Lord will not cast off forever, but though he cause grief, he will have compassion according to the abundance of his steadfast love;
for he does not willingly afflict or grieve the children of men.
Lamentations 3:32-33
I love this because while it acknowledges God's sovereignty and providence, even in times of grief, sorrow, and trial - it also tells me that his heart is empathetic for us, and that he has compassion for us in the midst of the trials that he brought on. It's through these trials he refines us, and sanctifies us, but it does my heart good to know that he knows how much my heart hurts while in them - and that he knows how weak and frail I am and he comforts me because of the ABUNDANCE of his steadfast love.
This is the word of the Lord.

being brave here, I don't really understand the...though he cause grief....and he doesn't willing afflict or grieve....
