Just a little get together

Last Thursday night we hosted a "game night" to welcome our 10ish new interns. Our total number of interns or non "full-time-for-life-and-not leaving anytime soon" missionary staff right now is 22. I love the interns. Right now, John has the privilege of pastoring them as best he can while serving in his other duties. Every Sunday night we have them over to listen to a sermon, discuss it a bit, and then just hang out and chill for a while without worrying about anything getting stolen or whether they conjugated that verb correctly. We love hanging out with them for the same reasons we loved doing RUF at A&M - most importantly, they keep us young. But we also continue to suffer the same problem we were forced to suffer while at A&M - they don't stay. And in some ways it's worse here, because we don't even have them for four years - maybe a year, 2 years max, but most of our newbies are only here for the summer. So we enjoy them while they are here, send them off with our love and gratitude for new relationships made and hope to see them again soon - the next time God calls them to the desert.
