For Love and Roses

My sweet husband gave me roses for Valentine's.

I must admit that I actually get annoyed by the commercial-ness that is Valentine's Day. I'm a bit of a cynic if truth be told. Not because I don't believe in love. Of course I do! Not only am I married to the best man ever (sorry to the rest of you gals), but I belong body and soul to my Saviour, Christ, who loved me and gave himself for me. And one of my favorite books is C.S. Lewis' The Four Loves, which I think has the best explanation of the nature of love, as well as expounding on the different kinds of love we, mere mortals, experience (storge, eros, phileo) and then, of course, the one which we can only receive from the (agape). But as usual, when I get a-going, I digress...

As I was saying, I don't just believe in love, but I experience it everyday through the love we as a family have for one another(storge), through friends (phileo), through the body of Christ(phileo), through remembering Christ's ultimate sacrifice for me(agape).

So when my husband brings me roses on Valentines, and doesn't succumb to my cynicism over a holiday created for something we should do everyday, I do feel his love(storge, eros and phileo all rolled into one baby!) for me and how much he cherishes me and and I am thankful for him and his sweet, sweet heart that loves us so well. He is an amazing man and I am so honored and privileged and grateful that he chose me, over everyone else to walk this journey through life with him. And I just love him so much.

And, I had a ton of fun photographing those roses, which are gorgeous!

And this last picture really could go on the previous post. I know it looks like my cat just sleeps all the time, and well, that's actually pretty accurate.
