A party and a trip

Never a dull moment to be had in the Ferguson household, it would be a disappointment if today of all days was. We have deemed today "Celebration Saturday" and are hosting all of the missionary families and trusty interns for fun, food, and games this evening. What are we celebrating? Anything...but specifically lots of events going on down here from May birthdays (mine included - today!), Mother's Day (why not?), to missionaries coming and missionaries going (the going we aren't really celebrating, but saying goodbye with big crocodile tears...or I guess we are celebrating the good times shared as well.)

But that's not all.

Tonight we are also leaving for our long awaited Machu Picchu trip with the kids. We thought we were leaving Monday on the morning flight out of Trujillo, but on Thursday I realized that we had not purchased tickets for a flight Trujillo to Lima...this realization coming after the party word was well out.

Thursday afternoon, John and I run to the bus station hoping against hope that there would be 7 seats available on a descent bus for Sunday night so we could arrive in Lima early Monday morning in time for our 8:30am flight to Cuzco.

There weren't.

Not even on the chicken bus.(Thank the Lord for that.)

Then, being the fast thinking man that he is, John asked the ticket gal, "what about Saturday night?"

Yes. And even on the VIP - a nice, comfy bus with a bathroom.

But the party? Let's just do it, we decide.

So. The party will get cranking around 5pm. We will enjoy everyone and then, as they already know, they are getting kicked out around 9:30 so we can grab our bags and head off to the bus station for our 10:30 bus.

Sounds like a fun day.

It will be. And we will all sleep well on that bus to Lima after a fun night laughing and celebrating life with friends.

So look for pictures in a week...of the party and of the ruins.

And we will give Machu Picchu saludos from all of you.

Oh my goodness!! I was going to say, "Wow, you may actually sleep on that bus!!" (Provided you don't sit next to anyone considerably hairy, scaly, smelly or scary (or all of the above.)

Have a BLAST!!!
