Food, Friends , and Fun

The week before we left for the states, we had a wonderful visit with our friends and fellow co-laborers for the Kingdom, Eduardo and Noemi Quiroz and family. They care for the flock out in Arevelo, Peru Mission's church plant. Noemi also was our Spanish profesora extraordinaire and since we ae not taking Spanish lessons anymore, Noemi and I decided that we needed to get the families together because...we just missed each other.

We had a great time spending a good chunk of the day with the Quiroz family. Noemi is famous for her Lomo Saltado, a dish native to Peru and loved by the Ferguson clan more than any other native dish. We had made a special request and not only did Noemi oblige, but she had us come over early enough to teach me how to make it as well. I have questions on whether mine would ever come out as good as hers, but at least now I have a working knowledge of the preparation, not to mention the secret ingredients that make it soooo very yummy.
Lomo Saltado consists of basically a wonderfully seasoned and peppered stir-fry of beef, onions, tomatoes and peppers tossed with french fries and served with rice.

We had a great day of fellowshipping with Eduardo, Noemi and their three boys, Juan, Alfredo and Benjamín. Good food, good conversation, good friends - how can one ever go wrong with that.

And Noemi has already designated the next date to be at my house. I will be cooking Lomo Saltado, of course.

Sounds like a wonderful day! And Mmmm.... that sounds really yummy!

I want to talk to you soon! Would you believe my man is out of town again and (shock of shocks) my children are sick! ((sigh)) Never a dull moment, right?

Love you!

I loved Noemi's cooking! That woman is a wonder. I can cook for a crowd but she does it one meal after another and it's all real cooking. I so wished we could get to know them better. I think I could learn a few things about ministry and hospitality from her.

I thought of you on your birthday but I'm sorry I didn't let you know that until today. :-)
