I am reading too many books right now and I am having a hard time getting into any of them. And then, in blows Doug Serven, RUF campus minister at OU and reader/writer extraordinare and he keeps telling me that I have to read this book that he loves, The Brothers K. And asking if I have read any of the other books he had recommended to me. But I haven't. And now I really want to. What am I to do? I can't just put all the others down. For once, every book I am reading has a purpose, a purpose that I would do well to fulfill. They are all so different. I mean, How to Read a Book speaks to me in a very different way than Streams of Living Water. One instructs my mind and once penetrates mind and soul. And the Devotional Classics that accompanies Streams is AMAZING!
And what about Russka? It's huge! And I had already put War and Peace down to pick Russka up, a nice little jaunt into the complete history of Russia written in a novel form. But maybe I need a little bit of a lighter fare right now. And we aren't even bringing in the Bible to this discussion. I spent yesterday getting caught up on that. What do I do? What do I do? What do I do? I am an aimless wanderer lost in my mountain of books. I need direction. And I need to quit stressing myself out. I think I'll make a coke run.
So many, many books and so very little time!!!!

You have at least one person who sympathizes with your troubles!
is that coca-cola light??
I hear your frustration! That is the story of my life. Can I tell you how many books I've started and stopped and started and stopped books over these past few years?! It pains me to think of it. There are too many good ones and I try to read them all at once and then I never finish any of them.
I've got no advice for you.
Heather, get a grip.
Oh, and by the way, could you please ask Wes and John and Alonzo if I might please have my family back now. Next time someone comes, its going to be me so I'm not left here. It stinks. I don't like it.
I empathise, as well. I bought several books at Half-Price Books a few weeks ago that I am really excited about (mostly on the 1916 Easter Rebellion in Ireland). However, I am having major troubles getting into the current one--though I REALLY, REALLY want to enjoy it.
You have to read the Brothers K! Its my favorite book written after 1950 ever.
