Twin Lakes brings Camp to us!

This past week we had the awesome privilege of going to camp! Matt Nasekos, director of Twin Lakes Camp outside Jackson, Mississippi, with his lovely wife Sheila, led a team of 27 down to bring camp to some of our children for the very first time. They brought their knowledge of all things camp, their combined years of experience, their enthusiasm, their love for Jesus and his people and some cool equipment to have tons of fun with!

A favorite was the parachute thing (I don't know what else to call it). The kids loved throwing balls up high in the air with it, throwing it up to run underneath it, and tossing one another up in it. (Just joking, they didn't do that - at least I don't think they did.)

The ladies had fun taking our turn on the rented blow-up slide only receiving a few minor injuries.
Right before lunch was the large group time led by Allen Smith and our talented band and aided by Mickey Mouse, Winne-the Pooh and Tigger.

The Chichu Gua (pronounced chee-choo-WA) was a hit, a song not unlike "Father Abraham" involving moving specific body parts with added complexity each time you sing the song. "Chichu guaaaa, chichu guaa, chichu gua gua gua, chichu guaaaa, chichu guaa, chichu gua gua gua"(Go Dani! Muevete!)

After everyone was worn out from the Chichu Gua, they were ready to listen attentively to the Gospel lesson taught by Matt's father with translation by Eduardo Quiroz. He finished by leading the children in prayer, praying that they would come to trust Jesus as their Lord and Savior so that even if they never met again on earth, they would meet again in Heaven.

It was a great week. The team brought more than just camp to the children - they brought beauty, they brought respite, they brought a whole new world to these kids and they loved all of us with a love that can only be known through serving a wonderful Savior.

Thanks friends!!!!! We love you!

Way to keep those elbows up Heather! I should have learned your slide technique and maybe I would not have these band-aids on my arms :-) ~Sandi
